Trouble in Potato Land

Well, we had a set back in the garden today. The soon-to-be in-laws were over today and we decided to dig up some of our delicious cranberry potatoes for them. When I did this I discovered that about half of the potatoes were rotting in the ground/being eaten by little worms. This was so disappointing because we thought the potatoes were thriving! I have to do some research now to try to figure out what went wrong. I don't know if we left them in the ground too long (the vines were just starting to die) or if the worms are just a pest you have to look out for. I am consoling myself that we still got a good basket full of them and also remind myself that this is our first year trying potatoes so there are bound to be set backs. I also consoled myself with a pink grapefruit sorbet ice cream cone from Baskin Robbins at Greenlake. Yum.
